3 day Safari trip was one of the main highlight of our honeymoon in Kenya.
Mr K has planned it perfectly while we were still in London. He found an exceptional Safari provider in Diani Beach, Mombasa – Jt Safaris (www.julius-safaris.com) who took care of every detail of our adventure.
At 6:00 am we were picked up from Neptune Paradise Beach Resort in Diani Beach where we have been staying for two weeks, by a very friendly driver in huge Range Rover.
Rajesh drove for 3 hours to destination – Tsavo East where we had our breakfast and were ready to meet citizens of the park – wild animals.
Within 10 minutes from driving in, Rajesh asked if we are ready to meet kings of the jungle eye to eye. I was left a bit confused, however all was clear to me in the next few seconds. There they were couple of lions meters away, looking straight at us.
There are no words to describe the adrenaline level when you see lions from such a close distance. It’s overwhelming and extremely exciting, we were ecstatic.
The weather was really hot, around 38C hence animals were hiding however we were still able to see elephants, giraffes, zebras, hordes of antelopes, monkeys.
Hours later we checked in at Ashnil Aruba Lodge, had lunch and went for an afternoon ride around 4:00 pm which enabled us to see the nature at its best. Hungry and thirsty animals marched to all waterholes and we could spot them easily. We’ve seen more lions as well, particularly difficult to find, thanks to Rajesh who was really well connected with other drivers and followed all the great leads. All the drivers in the park use radios to communicate which is really helpful as rare animals are difficult to find.
After exciting day we headed back to the lodge to eat and rest and get ready for another day of adventure.
Next day we walk up at 6 am to view picturesque down and we headed to Tsavo West where we spent next two days full of unforgettable memories.
Apart from seeing Emu ostriches, crocodiles, hippos we also enjoyed being accommodated in our honeymoon Kilimanjaro suite in Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge with breath-taking view of Kilimanjaro and waterhole were 27 elephants came to drink water around 9 pm, the event which made an absolute highlight of the trip.
Facilities and catering in both lodges were exceptional. Accommodation was very clean and food delicious. We were hugely impressed considering that at the end of the day we were in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by wild animals.
I would recommend Safari holidays to everyone. It was one of the best destinations we visited so far. Touching the nature delivered so many attractions and rollercoaster of feelings.
Private Safari is always a good idea as the driver will accommodate you and you only making the experience comfortable, also chose good provider, well equipped car and knowledgeable driver are the key.
It is not a cheap choice, prepare around 1000 USD for three day trip, worth every cent though. We loved it so much that decided to go for an extra day trip a week later.
